Assistant District Attorney

Sitka District Attorney’s Office - Full-Time

The Department of Law, Criminal Division is recruiting for an experienced prosecutor who would like to live in beautiful Southeast Alaska. The Sitka District Attorney’s Office is currently operated by one full-time assistant district attorney and one paralegal, and is supervised by the Juneau District Attorney's Office. The attorney hired for this position will prosecute violations of criminal law which includes frequent trials, significant pre-trial motion practice, daily court hearings and some post-conviction and appellate work.  Some travel will be included to outlying courts located in Southeast Alaska. The attorney in this position is expected to work predominately independently; therefore, a minimum of two years of full-time, licensed law practice is preferred. Applicants should also have litigation experience that includes trial work, preferably in the criminal law field. The love of fishing is a plus.

Salary is determined by the legal background and experience of the selected candidate. A comprehensive state benefits package is provided. State attorneys are in the partially-exempt service and serve at-will at the pleasure of the Attorney General.
