Assistant Attorney General

Special Litigation - Full-Time; Anchorage Office

The State of Alaska, Department of Law is recruiting for one attorney to serve in the Special Litigation Section of the Civil Division.

Position Description

The Special Litigation section in the Anchorage Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a full-time attorney.

The attorney will represent the State in a wide variety of cases, including administrative hearings and state and federal court litigation. Special litigation attorneys work in a team environment, collaborating with subject matter specialists and appellate attorneys to handle complex, high profile and/or expedited litigation at the trial court level. The attorney will handle all aspects of trial court litigation from initial pleadings, through discovery, dispositive motion practice and trial. The attorney must be interested in handling cases covering a wide variety of subject matter areas and must be able to work independently on complex matters. Superior writing and oral communication skills are essential. Applicants at all experience levels will be considered.

Salary will depend upon the legal background and experience of the selected candidate. A comprehensive state benefits package is provided for regular, full-time, partially-exempt (PX) positions. State attorneys are in the partially-exempt service and serve at will, at the pleasure of the Attorney General.

Candidates must submit a cover letter and resume that includes a complete history of education and professional work experience and identifies at least three professional employment references.
