Assistant District Attorney

District Attorney's Office - Full-Time; Fairbanks Office

The Fairbanks District Attorney’s Office is recruiting to fill a full-time assistant district attorney position. The attorney hired for this position will prosecute violations of criminal law in interior and northern Alaska which includes frequent trials, significant pre-trial motion practice, daily court hearings and some post-conviction and appellate work.  In addition to the district and superior courts in Fairbanks, this office also covers the Utqiagvik, Tok, Galena, Delta Junction, Nenana and Fort Yukon courts and offers occasional opportunity to travel to these locations. Applicants should have strong oral advocacy skills. Prior trial experience and experience in the practice of criminal law is a plus, but is not required.

Application Instructions

Salary is determined by the legal background and experience of the selected candidate.  A comprehensive state benefits package is provided, including 21 days of personal leave for new employees, a generous retirement package in which the state matches a percentage of gross pay, health, dental and vision insurance, and some assistance with moving expenses. State attorneys are in the partially-exempt service and serve at-will at the pleasure of the Attorney General.
