Litigation Assistant (Associate Attorney I)

Child Protection Section - Full-Time; Anchorage

Job description

The Department of Law, Civil Division, is recruiting for the position of Litigation Assistant in the Child Protection Section.  The Litigation Assistant will provide experienced litigation support to attorneys who handle Child-In-Need-of-Aid cases.  The position will be assigned legal research, document and motion drafting, discovery, witness interview and coordination, evidence gathering, preparation of pretrial notebooks, production of exhibit, and assisting with statewide training of paralegals.  The duties of the position also include responding to public records requests.  Other duties include preparation of various pleadings, document research, analysis of facts, state and federal statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures.  The successful applicant should have strong research, writing, communication, and computer skills as well as an ability to manage multiple large or complex tasks or projects with minimal supervision.  Experience with child-in-need-of-aid work is desired. 

This position would ideally be located in Anchorage, but may be located in another Civil Division office.  This is a non-attorney position assigned to the partially exempt service.  Beginning salary for the position in Anchorage is $2,151.75 per pay period ($55,945.50 annually) DOE and includes a full-time benefit package.
