Child Protection - Full-Time; Bethel Office
The State of Alaska, Department of Law is recruiting for an attorney to serve in the Child Protection section of the Civil Division.

The Child Protection Section of the Attorney General's Office is recruiting for a full-time attorney in the Bethel office. The primary responsibility of the attorney in this position is to handle child-in-need-of-aid cases in Bethel, Alaska. Frequent appearances in Superior Court and extensive trial work are required. The position also requires a significant amount of written motion practice and preparation of court orders. Some travel within Alaska will be necessary.
Attorneys in this section must produce a high volume of work on a daily basis. At least two years trial experience and experience in abuse or neglect law is highly desired. General criminal and family law experience will also be considered. Candidates must be able to demonstrate effective and appropriate consensus building as well as the willingness and ability to be flexible. Candidates must be creative thinkers, be able to think on his or her feet and work well under pressure. The attorney in this position must have the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be committed to the child welfare field and be able to work with variety of people, including the client, the general public and witnesses.

Salary will depend upon the legal background and experience of the selected candidate. A comprehensive state benefits package is provided for regular, full-time, partially-exempt (PX) positions. State attorneys are in the partially-exempt service and serve at-will at the pleasure of the Attorney General.
