Assistant Attorney General

Commercial, Fair Business & Child Support Section - Full-Time; Anchorage or Juneau

Job description

The Commercial, Fair Business, and Child Support Section is recruiting for a full time Assistant Attorney General in the Anchorage or Juneau office. The attorney hired for this position will primarily represent and advise the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation and the Alaska Retirement Management Board. The attorney will assist these entities in monitoring related securities litigation, provide general legal advice, handle litigation, and work on legislation and regulations related to these client entities.

In addition to these areas, the attorney selected may also perform other responsibilities within the Department of Law related to securities, banking, tax, corporate transactions and commercial litigation as time allows. Travel both in Alaska and out of state may be required.


The position requires a minimum of two full years of licensed practice of law.  An accounting, business, financial, or regulatory background is preferred.  Prior background in tax or securities matters is beneficial, but is not required.  Strong written and transactional skills are important.

Salary will depend upon the legal background and experience of the selected candidate. The State provides a comprehensive state benefits package to regular, full-time, partially-exempt (PX) positions. State attorneys are in the partially-exempt service and serve at will, at the pleasure of the Attorney General.
