Man Indicted for Double Homicide
August 22, 2013
On August 22, 2013 Stacey Graham was indicted by the grand jury on two counts of Murder in the Second Degree and two counts of Manslaughter. The State also charged Graham for Driving Under the Influence.
The charges stem from a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision on August 9, 2013 at Abbott Road and 88th Ave. The Anchorage Police Department investigation revealed that Graham was intoxicated while driving and collided with teenage pedestrians Jordyn Durr and Brooke McPheters which caused the teenagers' death.
The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
If convicted, Graham faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison and a fine of $500,000 on each Murder in the Second Degree count. Sentencing is based on the judge's view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender's criminal history, if any.
