James Moen Indicted for Sexual Abuse of a Minor

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) On September 11, 2017, 31-year old James Moen was indicted for sexually abusing a minor between 2006 and 2009. The grand jury indicted Moen on six counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, four counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, and one count of distribution of indecent material to a minor.
If convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, Moen faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison. Moen is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The defendant is entitled to a fair trial where the State must prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury.
Moen is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. His bail has been set at $100,000 cash appearance and a court-approved third-party custodian. The District Attorney’s Office and the Anchorage Police Department believe there may be additional victim(s).
