Five People Indicted for their Involvement in the Drug-Related Robbery and Assault of Two Sitka Residents

(Sitka, AK) Yesterday, a Sitka Grand Jury indicted five people on charges of Robbery, Assault, Burglary and Misconduct with Controlled Substances. These charges were brought before the Grand Jury by the Office of Special Prosecutions, Statewide Drug Enforcement Prosecutor in cooperation with the Sitka District Attorney’s Office.
The grand jury charged Porter Treadway, Christina Quintana, Andrea “Josie” Avalos, Peter Krovina and Holly Chambers with pistol whipping and shooting one victim in both legs while another victim was beaten. Both victims sustained injuries during the incident that occurred on March 18. As a result of investigation by the Sitka Police Department all five have been arrested and arraigned on the indictment March 30, 2018.
The law provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years for each charge of Robbery in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree; a maximum of 10 years for each charge of Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and Misconduct with a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree; and a maximum of 5 years for each charge of Assault in the Third Degree and Misconduct with a Controlled Substance in a Third Degree. Under sentencing law, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon factors such as the seriousness of the offense(s) and the prior criminal history, if any, of each defendant.
A charging document is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

These cases are being prosecuted by the Office of Special Prosecutions Statewide Drug Enforcement Prosecutor in coordination with the Sitka District Attorney’s Office, which is a new position established by the Department of Law in order to combat the problems of drug distribution in Alaska.
