Press Release

Four Indicted for January 2018 Anchorage Robbery

February 7, 2018

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) This morning an Anchorage grand jury indicted four people for the January 26, 2018, robbery of a woman in Mountain View. The Defendants, 37 year old Steven Thomas, 36 year old Sarah Orazio, 43 year old Sheila Wilson, and 54 year old Keith Wilson were each indicted for one count of Robbery in Second Degree.  Thomas was also indicted for one count of Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the First Degree.

On January 26, 2018, Anchorage police responded to a report by a woman that she had just been robbed.  The woman reported that four individuals, two of whom she knew as Keith and Sheila Wilson, kicked her, held her down, and stole $480 in $20 bills from her purse.  Officers quickly located a vehicle matching the description provided by the woman and stopped it at a gas station.  Steven Thomas was driving the vehicle.  The vehicle suddenly accelerated during the course of the stop, swerving to avoid an officer’s patrol cruiser.  The officer reacted quickly, pinning the vehicle against a gas pump with his patrol cruiser before it could get away.  All four defendants were identified by the victim.  Keith Wilson was found in possession of $400 in $20 bills.

If convicted at trial, each of the Defendants face a sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment for the Robbery in the Second Degree charge.  Thomas faces up to an additional 5 years imprisonment for the Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the First Degree charge.  The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt.  Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Steven Thomas is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.  Sarah Orazio, Sheila Wilson, and Keith Wilson were released to the supervision of the Department of Correction’s Pretrial Enforcement Division.
