Anchorage Man Indicted On Sexual Assault And Sexual Abuse Charges

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) An Anchorage Grand Jury indicted a 27 year old Solomon Tomas James of Anchorage on Thursday, March 8, 2018, on several counts of Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The Grand Jury returned a twenty-four count Indictment against James. Among the most serious of charges, James faces nine counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, an unclassified felony. That charge carries a maximum of sentence of up to 99 years in prison for each count. The Grand Jury also returned ten counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree, as well other charges. The charges relate to sexual misconduct committed between 2012 and 2017 against twelve different victims.
James was taken into custody Thursday night on an arrest warrant. Bail was set in the warrant by the court at $250,000 cash appearance, $50,000 cash performance, and electronic monitoring. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
