Anchorage Man Indicted for August Shooting

(Anchorage, AK) – Today, an Anchorage grand jury indicted 21-year-old Shaun Johnson, Jr., for shooting Willard Outwater on August 19, 2020. Johnson was indicted on one count of first-degree assault, one count of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault, and one count of evidence tampering.
If convicted at trial, Johnson faces a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment for the first-degree assault charge, up to 10 years for the second-degree assault charge, and up to 5 years each for the third-degree assault and evidence tampering charges.
These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Johnson is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He is scheduled to be arraigned before the Superior Court in Anchorage on September 25, 2020.
