October 8, 2020

(Anchorage, AK) – Yesterday, an Anchorage grand jury indicted 19-year-old Sephan Allen, 18-year-old Garrett Gantner, and 17-year-old Jalen Jones for a string of armed robberies that occurred at gas stations and grocery stores in the communities of Chugiak, Eagle River, and Anchorage between November 2019 and August 2020. Allen was indicted on 12 counts of first-degree robbery and 12 counts of third-degree assault. Jones was indicted on seven counts of first-degree robbery and seven counts of third-degree assault. Gantner was indicted on two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of third-degree assault. These charges are a result of the cooperation and joint efforts between the Anchorage Police Department, Alaska State Troopers, and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

If convicted at trial, Allen, Gantner, and Jones each face sentences of up to 20 years imprisonment for each of the first-degree robbery charges and up to 5 years for each of the third-degree assault charges.

These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Allen, Gantner, and Jones are currently out on bail and conditions of release as approved by the Court and scheduled to be arraigned before the Superior Court in Anchorage on October 9, 2020.
