Juneau Man Indicted on Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Sexual Assault, and Assault Charges

April 23, 2021

(Juneau, AK) – On April 22, 2021, a Juneau grand jury indicted Christopher Coulson for one count of sexual assault in the first degree, one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, and two counts of assault in the third degree. All charges are designated as domestic violence.

The indictment alleges, among other counts, that on or about March 10, 2019, Mr. Coulson, then aged nineteen, engaged in sexual penetration with a person who was 13, 14, or 15 years of age and at least 4 years younger than Mr. Coulson. The court issued a $25,000 warrant for Mr. Coulson.

The case is being prosecuted by the Juneau District Attorney’s Office. If convicted at trial, Mr. Coulson faces up to 99 years imprisonment. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Mr. Coulson is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The next court date in this case will be scheduled after the warrant is served.
