Anchorage Woman Indicted for Murder of Her Child

(Anchorage, AK) – Today, an Anchorage grand jury indicted 29 year-old Marley Joli Marque for the November, 2020 killing of her 5 year-old child, J.C., the stabbing of her 26 year-old brother, Shane Sizemore, and assaulting two Anchorage Police Department officers. Ms. Marque was indicted on one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, one count of manslaughter, one count of first-degree assault, and two counts of third-degree assault.
If convicted at trial, Ms. Marque faces sentences of up to 99 years imprisonment for each of the murder charges, 20 years for the manslaughter charge, 20 years for the first-degree assault charge, and up to 5 years for each of the third-degree assault charges.
These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Ms. Marque is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. She is scheduled to be arraigned before the Superior Court in Anchorage on February 5, 2021.
