Fairbanks Man Indicted for Attempted Murder of Wife

(Fairbanks, AK) – On February 25, 2021, a Fairbanks grand jury indicted Jedidiah Malan for the attempted murder of his wife.  Mr. Malan was also indicted for Kidnapping, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Assault in the Third Degree, and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree.  Mr. Malan is charged by information with two misdemeanor counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree and one count of Interfering with a Report of a Crime Involving Domestic Violence.

The case is being prosecuted by the Fairbanks District Attorney’s Office.  If convicted at trial, Mr. Malan faces up to 99 years imprisonment.  The charges in the indictment and information are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Mr. Malan is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mr. Malan is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections in lieu of posting $250,000 bail.  His next scheduled court date is for an omnibus hearing on April 1, 2021, at 1:30 in Fairbanks Superior Court.
