Kodiak Man Indicted For Sexual Assault And Escape

(Kodiak, AK) – On February 11, 2021, a Kodiak grand jury returned a 23 count indictment on John Togise. Mr. Togise's domestic violence charges included 3 counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree and physical injury assaults on his significant other as well as 2 counts of Escape in the Third Degree.

The case is being prosecuted by the Kodiak District Attorney’s Office. If convicted at trial, Mr. Togise faces up to 99 years imprisonment. The charges in the indictment and information are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Mr. Togise is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mr. Togise is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections at the Anchorage Jail pending posting of an unsecured $50,000 bond and court approved house arrest location. His next scheduled court date is for an omnibus hearing on May 10, 2021, at 3:30 in Kodiak Superior Court.
