October 29, 2013
October 29, 2013, Juneau, Alaska – Attorney General Michael Geraghty announced the appointment of Ken Rosenstein as solicitor general for the Criminal Division of the Department of Law. The appointment was effective October 28.
“Ken Rosenstein has been an appellate attorney in the Office of Special Prosecutions and Appeals since 1991,” said Rick Svobodny, deputy attorney general for the criminal division. “He is highly proficient at identifying the real issues in any appeal and providing expert advice to prosecuting attorneys. His knowledge and experience will serve him and the residents of Alaska well as he provides guidance on issues of significance in Alaska criminal law.”
Mr. Rosenstein demonstrated his legal skills as a key member of the team looking into how the state handles post-conviction DNA testing. District Attorney’s Office v. Osborne was the case dealing with that matter, and Mr. Rosenstein was one of two Department of Law lawyers who personally argued and won the Osborne case before the United States Supreme Court. Rosenstein has handled hundreds of cases during his more than 20 years with the Department of Law, Criminal Appeals Unit.
