About the Labor & State Affairs Section
The Labor and State Affairs section provides legal assistance in the form of agency advice and representation in diverse areas of the law. The section advises agencies on matters of governmental management including employment law, labor relations, civil rights, separation of powers, boards and commissions, and procurement. The section also provides legal services for the Department of Labor and Workforce Development on matters involving unemployment, wage and hour, and Workers compensation. Further, the section provides legal assistance on issues associated with the conduct of elections, campaign finance, disaster management, and homeland security.
Scope of Work
The section represents a unique opportunity to serve a diverse range of clients in a variety of forums. Membership in this section provides its attorneys with the opportunity to develop diverse legal skills as they assist clients through advice, civil litigation, alternative dispute resolution, administrative litigation, regulatory law, and legislative work.
