Assistant District Attorney
Office: Sitka District Attorney's Office
Location: Sitka
Job Description
Are you a dedicated prosecutor interested in an exceptional opportunity to live and work in the stunning landscapes of Alaska? The Department of Law, Criminal Division, invites applications for a committed attorney to join the Sitka District Attorney's Office. This small yet dynamic office, supported by a close-knit team, offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in both misdemeanor and felony cases while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Southeast Alaska.
In this role, you will have the privilege of engaging in a diverse range of responsibilities, from frequent court appearances to substantial trial work and pre-trial motions. You will have the autonomy to manage your caseload, allowing you to refine your skills in criminal prosecution, including post-conviction and appellate work, and make a meaningful impact on the community. Furthermore, there are opportunities to travel to other Southeast Alaska court locations, such as Petersburg and Kake, to participate in trial work.
Sitka, a vibrant town with a population of approximately 9,000 residents, is rich in Tlingit culture and has a rich Russian heritage. Surrounded by majestic glacier-carved mountains and picturesque waters, Sitka offers an unparalleled outdoor lifestyle for those who enjoy fishing, hiking, or simply appreciating breathtaking views. This position is particularly suited for individuals with strong oral advocacy skills, a sharp analytical mind, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. While prior trial experience and a background in criminal law are beneficial, they are not prerequisites—what matters most is your passion for the work and your desire to make a positive difference.
If you are seeking a rewarding career in a picturesque setting, we would be delighted to hear from you!
