Job Description
The Ketchikan District Attorney’s Office is excited to announce an opportunity for a full-time Assistant District Attorney. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the prosecution of criminal cases in both the Ketchikan district and superior courts. This position encompasses all facets of criminal litigation, including trials, motion practice, routine court hearings, post-conviction relief litigation, and appellate work. Additionally, the attorney may have the opportunity to prosecute cases in other vibrant Southeast Alaska communities, such as Prince of Wales Island, Petersburg, and Wrangell.
Exceptional oral advocacy skills are imperative for this role. While prior trial experience and a background in criminal law are highly desirable, we welcome motivated candidates who are eager to learn.

Estimated Compensation
The table below gives an estimate of compensation based on a combination of judicial clerking and licensed legal experience. The compensation listed in the table represents the base pay. Several locations around Alaska have geographical pay differences. Upon a job offer, you would receive a firm salary quote based on location of position and qualifying experience. Attorneys are eligible to promote from Attorney 1 through 4 with service and acceptable job performance.
