Attorney General Leads Rural Subcabinet on Second Outreach Trip
October 15, 2009
Anchorage, Alaska - Attorney General Dan Sullivan and other Cabinet members in the Parnell administration will be in Barrow Friday for a continuation of the public hearings of the governor's Rural Action Subcabinet.
Joining Sullivan, who chairs the subcabinet, will be Emil Notti, the commerce commissioner, Joseph Masters, the public safety commissioner, and Bill Hogan, the commissioner of health and social services. The subcabinet will hold a hearing from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Inupiat Heritage Center.
Separate meetings have been scheduled with North Slope Borough Mayor Edward Itta and City of Barrow Mayor Pro Tem Lloyd Leavitt, among other local leaders.
"As with the previous subcabinet hearings and meetings in Unalakleet and Kotzebue, we're going to listen to what local residents have to say about how to improve the quality of life in rural Alaska," Sullivan said. "We look forward to hearing their concerns and suggestions."
The subcabinet is scheduled to submit a report to Governor Parnell in December concerning long-term strategies for lowering the cost of living and improving the quality of life in rural Alaska.
Suggestions for the subcabinet can be e-mailed to attorney.general@alaska.gov.
