Rural Action Subcabinet in Yakutat on Fifth Outreach Trip

Anchorage, Alaska - Attorney General Dan Sullivan nd other state officials flew to Yakutat this morning on the fifth fact-finding trip of the Rural Action Subcabinet.
Joining Sullivan, the chairman of the subcabinet, are Emil Notti, the commerce commissioner, Mike Black, deputy commerce commissioner, Craig Fleener, a division director in the Department of Fish and Game, and Peter Crimp, project manager for the Alaska Energy Authority.
The subcabinet is scheduled to have lunch with Yakutat residents at the high school, with a public forum to follow from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The group then will meet with the Alternative Energy Committee, which includes Mayor Dave Stone, Chamber of Commerce Chairman Walter Porter, Tribe Chairman and General Manager Bert Adams Jr., and Yakutat Power Manager Scott Newlun. The day's activities conclude with a tour of school and municipal facilities.
With this trip, the subcabinet has visited every region of rural Alaska - Western, North Slope, Interior, Southwestern and now Southeast. In Juneau in December, a subcabinet meeting included testimony from Native leaders in Southeast, including Dr. Walter Soboleff.
The Rural Action Subcabinet is charged with making long-term recommendations for improving the quality of life in rural Alaska.
