Anchorage Man Convicted of Sexually Abusing Child

On August 5, 2013, 33 year old Jared Kowalski of Anchorage was convicted of three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree and one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree. The jury found Kowalski not guilty of one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree.
Following a two-week jury trial, Jared Kowalski was convicted for sexually abusing a relative who was seven years old at the time. The victim testified to ongoing abuse at the hands of Kowalski. The victim eventually reported the abuse to a friend, who in turn notified the child’s father.
Anchorage Police investigated the reported abuse, led by Detective Kim Trujillo of Anchorage Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit.
Superior Court Judge Larry Card scheduled Kowalski’s sentencing for November 14, 2013. Kowalski faces a sentence range of 25 to 35 years for each count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree and 5 to 15 years for the Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree conviction.
