Press Release
Former Union Official Convicted of Forgery
February 25, 2013
On Monday, February 25, 2013, 32 year-old Skye McRoberts was convicted of forgery in the second degree in Anchorage. McRoberts was formerly employed as an organizer for the Alaska State Employees Association. McRoberts was sentenced to spend three years on felony probation and to pay $25,248.10 in restitution to the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development and $9,094.10 to the University of Alaska. McRoberts has already paid half of her restitution obligation.
McRoberts’ conviction comes as the result of a multi-year investigation by the Alaska State Troopers. The investigation revealed that McRoberts submitted hundreds of forged signatures in 2010 to the Alaska Labor Relations Agency in support of her union’s efforts to organize more than 2000 previously unorganized employees of the University of Alaska. Her efforts were unsuccessful because another employee at the union contacted the Alaska State Troopers to report her suspicions about McRoberts.
