Anchorage Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault

On March 15, 2013, 45-year-old Anchorage resident David Creson was sentenced to spend six years in prison for a July 2012 sexual assault. The sentence results from Creson’s conviction by an Anchorage jury in December 2012. Creson will be placed on probation for ten years upon his release from prison and will be required to register as a sex offender.

At Friday’s sentencing, Creson told the Court that “things got really crazy that night” and he apologized for his conduct. Anchorage Superior Court Judge Michael Spaan told Creson at the sentencing hearing that Creson “took advantage of a helpless victim,” “used her for his own selfish purposes,” and “kicked her to the curb.”

Creson’s crimes occurred in July 2012. Detectives from the Anchorage Police Special Victims Unit investigated the sexual assault. The investigation revealed that Creson and another man found a woman passed out in a vehicle and took her home. The men then took turns sexually assaulting the woman as she remained unconscious. Creson fled from the residence after she woke up. Creson was discovered sleeping in the backyard of another residence. His wallet contained the identification card and credit cards of the woman he had sexually assaulted.

Creson’s co-defendant is scheduled to stand trial this month.
