Anchorage Man Sentenced to 42 Years for Sexual Abuse of Child

On December 12, 2013, Anchorage Superior Court Judge Larry Card sentenced 33 year-old Jared Kowalski of Anchorage to serve 42 years in prison for sexually abusing a seven year old child.
On August 5, 2013 following a two-week trial, Kowalski was convicted by an Anchorage jury of three counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. The jury acquitted Kowalski of one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree.
Kowalski will be on probation for 15 years following his release. Kowalski will face the imposition of up to 15 additional years of jail time if he fails to comply with probation requirements, which include sex offender treatment. Kowalski will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
