Press Release
Anchorage Man Convicted in Bath Salts Trial
May 12, 2014
Last week, an Anchorage jury found 32 year old Sean Proctor guilty of three felony drug crimes. Proctor’s convictions stem from a July 2012 traffic stop by the Anchorage Police. Proctor was arrested because his drivers’ license was suspended and he did not have any insurance. The officers searched the vehicle and discovered several controlled substances, including butylone, a synthetic cathanoid more commonly known as a “bath salt.”
The substances found in Proctor’s vehicle were sent to the State Crime Lab for analysis. The analysis confirmed that Proctor possessed butylone. Proctor was convicted for possessing the “bath salts” with the intent to distribute them. Proctor’s conviction is believed to be the first conviction in Anchorage for possession with intent to distribute bath salts.
Proctor is scheduled to be sentenced on August 20, 2014. He faces up to three years in prison.
