Sentencing Scheduled for Anchorage Woman for Sexual Assault of Airman

On February 28, 2014, 41 year old Lagina Griffiths will be sentenced in Anchorage Superior Court in room 304 for the offense of attempted sexual assault in the second degree. Griffiths pled guilty to this offense on October 28, 2013.
Griffiths attempted to sexually assault a 25 year old Airman from the U.S. Air Force who was in Alaska for an exercise. The Airman was stationed in Japan at the time. Griffiths agreed to give the Airman a ride home to his hotel room on JBER but then took him to her home in Anchorage. The Airman went to bed on Griffiths’ couch but was awoken when Griffiths attempted to sexually assault him.
Griffiths faces a sentence of two to 12 years in prison. Superior Court Judge Michael Spaan will determine Griffiths’ sentence at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing, which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on February 28.
