Anchorage Man Scheduled for Sexual Assault Sentencing

42 year old David Standifer is scheduled for sentencing on March 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Anchorage Superior Court. Standifer was convicted on November 14, 2013 by a jury of sexually assaulting a woman at a homeless camp near Ship Creek in April 2010.
Standifer will be sentenced for sexual assault in the first degree, two counts of attempted sexual assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and assault in the fourth degree. Standifer assaulted the woman, punched her in the face and broke her nose, strangled her and sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to escape to nearby Commercial Avenue, where a passerby found her bloody and without pants and called 911.
Under the presumptive sentencing terms, Standifer faces a minimum sentence of not less than 60 years to serve, and faces a maximum sentence of 99 years.
