Dillingham Man Convicted of Sexually Abusing Daughter

On April 17, 2014, 39 year old Dillingham resident Stephen Alvarado was convicted of sexually molesting his six year old daughter in 2011. In the summer of 2011, the victim told a teenaged cousin about the sexual abuse by her father. The victim’s family reported the abuse to the Alaska State Troopers, who worked with the Dillingham Child Advocacy Center during the investigation.
Following a two week jury trial, Alvarado was convicted of four counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and two counts of incest. Specifically, Alvarado was convicted for forcing his daughter to perform oral sex on him. The abuse was witnessed by his seven year old son.
Alvarado faces a sentence of at least 25 to 35 years in prison as a result of his convictions. He will be sentenced on July 29, 2014 by Superior Court Judge Steve Cole.
