Anchorage Woman to be Sentenced Today on Six Cases

Today, 46 year old Joanna Stanley will be sentenced in the Anchorage Superior Court in six separate cases this afternoon.

Three of Stanley’s cases were tried together in one jury trial. In that trial, Stanley was convicted of 25 charges including three counts of scheme to defraud, one count of criminal impersonation, and 14 counts of forgery.

In a separate trial, Stanley was convicted of forgery and two counts of felony theft.

Stanley will also be sentenced for violating her probation in felony cases from 2003 involving similar crimes. She could be sentenced up to 20 months for violating her probation.

Stanley faces a presumptive sentencing range of 6-10 years on each count of scheme to defraud and criminal impersonation. She faces a presumptive range of 3-5 years on all other counts.

Superior Court Judge Larry Card will sentence Stanley at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing, which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on May 29th.
