Press Release
Man Sentenced for Assaulting Police Officer and Police Dog
December 12, 2014
Following guilty pleas to First Degree Harming of a Police Dog and Third Degree Assault, thirty-eight year old Noel Hommerding was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton.
Judge Wolverton sentenced Hommerding to a composite sentence of nine years with five years suspended and placed Hommerding on probation for three years.
Judge Wolverton found the crimes to be among the most serious conduct and found that Hommerding directed his crimes at a police officer. Judge Wolverton commented that community condemnation of Hommerding’s offenses was an important factor in fashioning an appropriate sentence.
