New Mexico Felon To Be Sentenced for Interstate Heroin and Methamphetamine Trafficking

(ANCHORAGE Alaska) On January 23, 2015, at 3 P.M., 23 year old Enrique Lino will be sentenced for trafficking heroin and methamphetamine from New Mexico to Alaska. Lino faces a sentence of up to 20 years.

On June 21, 2012, Alaska State Troopers stopped Enrique Lino at the Anchorage International Airport, after they received a tip that someone would be smuggling drugs to sell in Cordova. Lino denied the allegations and ran away from the investigators when they tried to apprehend him. Lino was arrested after a struggle. Investigators found that Lino was carrying about one ounce of heroin and about two and one-half ounces of methamphetamine concealed in balloons, which he had secreted in himself. The drugs are about 900 hits of heroin and methamphetamine and were worth more than $20,000 in Cordova. Lino was on felony probation in New Mexico for a cocaine conviction and had no permission to leave New Mexico when he committed these crimes.

The jury convicted Lino of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the third degree. The jury also found that three aggravators applied to his crimes.
