Judge Sentences Anchorage Man to 30 Years for 2011 Sexual Assault of a Child
November 4, 2015
(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) – On Monday, November 2, 2015, Judge Michael Spaan sentenced 64 year old Leonardo Lovette II of Anchorage to spend 30 years in prison for sexual abusing two children in 2011. The sentence came after a jury found Lovette guilty in February and March 2015 on two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.
At sentencing, Judge Spaan remarked on the defendant’s lengthy criminal history of 21 prior misdemeanor convictions and four prior felony convictions. Judge Spaan remarked that the sentence focused on general deterrence and community condemnation. Judge Spaan also found the three-decade jail sentence was necessary to keep Lovette away from children. Upon release from prison, Lovette will have to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
