Press Release
Anchorage Man Convicted of Sexually Abusing Girlfriends' Children
July 5, 2016
Today an Anchorage jury convicted 27 year old Reid “Dewey” Hayes of seven counts of sexual abuse of a minor for molesting the children of his girlfriend.
In January 2012, a family member reported the sexual abuse to the Anchorage Police. Hayes had been dating and living with a mother of five children since 2008. Ultimately, three of the children disclosed that Hayes had molested them. The jury found Hayes guilty of abusing the girls in multiple incidents that occurred from 2008 through 2012. The girls were between 11 and 15 years old when the abuse occurred.
Superior Court Judge Paul Olson scheduled sentencing for November 18, 2016. Hayes will remain in custody until the sentencing hearing. The court could sentence Hayes to spend between 37 to over 100 years in prison for his crimes.
