Anchorage Man Convicted of 2012 Sexual Assault

On February 10, 2016, 41 year old Jeremy Larson of Anchorage was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman at the Travel Inn Motel in the early morning hours of June 7, 2012.

Following a three week trial, the jury convicted Larson of one count of sexual assault in the first degree. The case had previously been tried in August of 2014; that jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on the sexual assault in the first degree charge but convicted Larson of assault in the fourth degree.

Larson was convicted based on an incident at an Anchorage motel. Larson was drinking with a woman who was an acquaintance of Larson’s friend. At some point in the evening, Larson’s friend left the motel room and Larson physically and sexually assaulted the woman. The victim was able to escape the room where she got the attention of hotel employees and residents who found her in the parking lot of the hotel, crying and screaming and not wearing pants.

Anchorage Police responded and investigated the crime. The woman underwent a sexual assault examination, which revealed multiple injuries to her face, scalp and legs. Several of the victim’s possessions, including her pants, were found in Larson’s room.

Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton scheduled Larson’s sentencing for June 3, 2016 at 3:30. Under presumptive sentencing statutes, for the sexual assault conviction, Larson faces a presumptive sentencing range of 20 to 30 years in prison, with a maximum sentence of 99 years. He faces up to a year on the assault in the fourth degree conviction.
