Sosaia Misa Convicted of Four Counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) On Thursday, February 1, 2018, an Anchorage jury found Sosaia Misa guilty of three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree and one count of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree for crimes committed between 2011-2013. Following a four-week trial, Mr. Misa was convicted on all counts charged in the 2013 case. The case was delayed for approximately 11 months in 2014 and 2015 when the defendant violated his bail and failed to appear for court hearings. The Assistant District Attorneys who tried the case were Michael Ebell and John Haley. Superior Court Judge Catherine Easter presided over the trial and scheduled sentencing for June 8, 2018. Mr. Misa faces a presumptive sentence ranging from 51 to 135 years.
