September 21, 2023
(Fairbanks, AK) – The National District Attorneys Association, (NDAA), honored Fairbanks District Attorney Joe Dallaire with a Volunteer of the Year Award this summer. The NDAA is the largest association of prosecutors in the nation and recognizes the vital role that prosecutors play in the safety of local communities.
"This prestigious award reflects the commitment DA Dallaire shows toward not only the community of Fairbanks but to the prosecution community nationwide," said Alaska Deputy Attorney General John Skidmore. "Joe is a valued member of the Alaska Department of Law, and this award reflects his commitment to ensuring the safety of Alaskans."
Dallaire serves on the NDAA’s Board of Directors and helped NDAA create the first-ever NDAA Job Fair and chaired the Job Fair Committee, which was intended to help support the hiring needs of prosecutors’ offices nationwide.
Dallaire was among five prosecutors acknowledged by NDAA this summer for their contributions.
NDAA’s Job Fair Committee has been newly recast as the Recruitment & Retention Committee, which Dallaire also chairs. "Our mission is to promote adequate staffing levels in state and for local prosecutor’s offices nationwide by effectively addressing recruitment and retention in the prosecutorial profession," Fairbanks DA Dallaire said.
Among his community work in Alaska, this year DA Dallaire and his team created the first-ever Junior DA Program offered by the Department of Law, where high school students learned first-hand from experts in the criminal justice community, graduating 38 area students from the six-week course.
