Sebastian Leorna Sentenced to Serve 22 Years for Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Juneau

(Juneau, AK) – Today, Superior Court Judge Amy Mead sentenced Sebastian Leorna, 70, on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree pursuant to an agreement with the State to resolve the case without trial. The offenses were based on incidents from Feb. and March of 2025 where Leorna engaged in sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.

Judge Mead sentenced Leornato to 35 years with 13 years suspended, followed by 25 years of supervised felony probation after release, as well as a lifetime sex offender registry requirement.

The victim's mother submitted a detailed and thoughtful written impact statement to the court, which included a message to her daughter: "I want to say: we believe you. We see what this did to you. We know it was wrong. And none of it was your fault."

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Chaudhary, Paralegal Marley Hettinger, and Legal Assistant Katie Green of the Juneau District Attorney's Office. The case was investigated by Detectives Mattie Shriver and Kathy Underwood with the Juneau Police Department. The State also thanks the Child Advocacy Center for their assistance in interviewing the children involved in this matter.
