We welcome you to join us as a sex crimes prosecutor at the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office. This position offers a unique opportunity for a highly specialized caseload in a challenging and rewarding area of prosecution.
Job Description
The caseload consists of sexual assault and sexual abuse of a minor cases, and you will serve as a regional expert on the topic. In addition to prosecuting the most serious and high-profile cases, you will also provide advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies and mentor other prosecutors. The expertise you will share includes:
- a victim-centered approach
- obtaining search warrants
- effective seizure of evidence
- presenting scientific evidence at trial
You may also serve on multidisciplinary teams developing guidelines and suggestions designed to increase successful investigation and prosecution of perpetrators while minimizing trauma to victims.
Qualifications
This position requires you to be familiar with Alaska’s criminal justice system and laws, have extensive trial experience, a history of handling complex criminal prosecutions, and a demonstrated commitment to working with victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse. Some travel within the region is required, including for trials that may last several weeks.

Estimated Compensation
The table below gives an estimate of compensation based on a combination of judicial clerking and licensed legal experience. The compensation listed in the table represents the base pay. Several locations around Alaska have geographical pay differences. Upon a job offer, you would receive a firm salary quote based on location of position and qualifying experience. Attorneys are eligible to promote from Attorney 1 through 4 with service and acceptable job performance.
