Job description
The attorney selected for this position will advise the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Revenue. Oil & Gas Section attorneys represent state client agencies to ensure that Alaska's vast oil, gas, geothermal, and subsurface energy interests are responsibly managed and revenues from royalties and taxes received. The legal services provided by the attorney in this position include a fascinating mix of client advice, litigation, appellate practice, transactional work, and energy research.
Some travel may be required. Flexible schedules and work from home arrangements may be available. Attorneys in the Juneau and Anchorage offices enjoy stunning views of mountains and oceans. If you enjoy dramatic scenery, outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, kayaking, and abundant wildlife, then Alaska is the place for you.

Qualifications
Applicants with experience in upstream oil and gas issues, tariffs, property taxes, or federal land use litigation are highly desired. Superior writing and oral communication skills are essential. Experience handling complex discovery matters and independent management of a caseload is also desirable.

Estimated Compensation
The table below gives an estimate of compensation based on a combination of judicial clerking and licensed legal experience. The compensation listed in the table represents the base pay. Several locations around Alaska have geographical pay differences. Upon a job offer, you would receive a firm salary quote based on location of position and qualifying experience. Attorneys are eligible to promote from Attorney 1 through 4 with service and acceptable job performance.
