Employee Testimonials
The Alaska Department of Law is special, not just because it has a great work culture, but because it's in Alaska. Every section deals with Alaska-specific issues, which are the most interesting legal issues in the country. Lawyers will always have plenty to research and litigate as far as development and natural resource management in Alaska, but I think the human elements of working in Alaska are more interesting. Alaska has a vibrant Native culture, immigrants from around the world, and various eccentrics who show up in any number of cases. I can’t imagine a place where the day-to-day work is more interesting, and, when you work in Alaska, at the end of the day you get to enjoy living in one of the most beautiful and amazing places in the world. Andy Miller, Assistant Attorney General
I chose to start my legal career at the Department of Law because it offers interesting and important legal issues; a lot of autonomy and responsibility, even for young lawyers; and the time to get out and enjoy Alaska. Everyone I work with is similarly motivated by public service, interesting questions, and the lives they live outside of work. If you want to do cool work in a cool place, you can’t do better than the Alaska Department of Law. Thomas Flynn, Assistant Attorney General
