Dillingham is situated on the edge of beautiful Bristol Bay and is the hub community for that region. This is an excellent place for a person who enjoys year-round fishing, hiking, and exploring the many lakes and rivers.
Dillingham is an important commercial fishing port on Nushagak Bay with a population of just over 2,000 residents. Dillingham is not connected to the statewide road system, and the only way to reach the city is by airplane or boat. The Dillingham Airport is served by several flights daily through Alaska Airlines. There is a paved road that connects Dillingham with Aleknagik and the Wood-Tikchik State Park. Bristol Bay supports the world's largest runs of wild sockeye salmon and returns of other species of Pacific salmon. The area supports excellent hunting, fishing, and camping, hiking, skiing, and all types of water sports. Dillingham has mild summers and long, cold, and very snowy winters.
