Job description
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a new Division Director. This role is perfect for seasoned attorneys eager to step into a strategic leadership position and move beyond the day-to-day practice of law.
As the Legal Services Director, you will oversee the following critical sections: Natural Resources; Oil & Gas; Environmental; Transportation; Opinions, Appeals & Ethics; Special Litigation; and Torts, Worker’s Compensation & Corrections. You will collaborate closely with Director Rachel Witty to provide visionary leadership and ensure the highest standards of legal service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and organization skills

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee assigned components and sections (approximately 30% of time)
- Provide strategic leadership and direction on legal matters (approximately 30% of time)
- Lead high-level legal projects (approximately 10% of time)
- Manage recruitment, hiring, retention, and other personnel matters (approximately 10% of time)
- Handle budget and RSA (Reimbursable Services Agreement) management (approximately 5% of time)
- Collaborate with other divisions and departments to achieve organizational goals (approximately 5% of time)
- Oversee division policies and procedures and implementation of policies and procedures (approximately 5% of time)
- Perform administrative tasks such as travel, leave, and training assignments (approximately 5% of time)

Qualifications
Admission to the Alaska State Bar and at least 7 years of legal practice with a preference for both supervisory and litigation experience.

Estimated Compensation
The table below gives an estimate of compensation based on a combination of judicial clerking and licensed legal experience. The compensation listed in the table represents the base pay. Several locations around Alaska have geographical pay differences. Upon a job offer, you would receive a firm salary quote based on location of position and qualifying experience. Attorneys are eligible to promote from Attorney 1 through 4 with service and acceptable job performance.
